 Cancun is located at the edge of Mexico´s easternmost state. Quintana Roo, on the Yucatan Peninsula. It is on the Yucatan Channel that separates Mexico from the island of Cuba, as the only state located on the Caribbean. The city is the municipal seat of Benito Juarez municipality, and a world renowned tourist resort. The city center is located on mainland which connects over the Nichupte and Bojorquez lagoons to a narrow “7” shaped island where the beachfront hotels are located. Isla Mujeres is a nearby island located off the coast and is accessible by boat. Cozumel, a larger island, lies nearby to the south. On the opposite side of the island from the Caribbean Sea is the Nichupte Lagoon, which is used for boating excursions. Cancun is the gateway to the Riviera Maya, with numerous archeological sites, such as Coba and Tulum, the cenotes, ecological parks like Xcaret and charming towns like Playa del Carmen. Cancun is a wonderful paradise. Crystalline water, white sands, snorkeling, fishing and cruising are the main activities. Whale shark watching and sea turtle hatchings are a must.   Isla Mujeres sits between many coral reefs and is perfect for snorkeling. It is also home to a large population of sea turtles. Hot Spot: “El Garrafon” sea life reserve.  Playa del Carmen is the center of the Mayan Riviera right in front of Cozumel Island. Very popular for it's 5th avenue, many beatiful beaches, coral reefs and water sports.  The largest island in the Cancun area, here you’ll find excellent scuba and snorkeling, as well as dolphin watching and fishing. The island has an unbelievable array of sea life. The whole island is a real treat.  The largest Mayan ruin seasides, the waters of Tulum are the best for fishing and scuba diving, but due to its archeological value, it is definitely the spot for sightseeing.  |

| Sport fishing is unspoiled and exciting in Cancun. Barracuda, Kingfish, Blue Marlin and Sailfish are the best game. Hot spots are off Cozumel, Isla Mujeres and Puerto Morelos. |
